i honestly don't know the difficulty of modding, as i don't have the programs or the know-how to make anything. i'm not the one making this sword for a reason, ya know?

ra'karth i suggest looking at the pictures i have posted in here to see what needs improvement.
|
There is only so much that I can do with that specific concept art, I noticed when I loaded it into my modeler that its kind of tilted to a side making myself have to do a bit of "guess work"

i understand that both of your swords aren't complete. one thing i can notice, referencing from the picture, is the blades need to be curved (as katanas usually are).
|
I relize that katanas have a typical curve to them, as I have said before from the concept provided very hard to tell since its sitting at an angle not just a correct profile, I am trying to allow as much as a curve as possible.

Oh, just don't use the bump/normal map(I also had to open it in photoshop and save it as a TGA to get the textures aligned). Hmm, I could try to make a reflect map, it should be easy?
|
Hmmmm, I would ask psymonsier (he did the textures for my other sword, it did decent work with and without reflection map, I lack max4 to be able to do this on it so I wouldnt know) about this I can also dig around for a possible tutorial using a version of 3dsmax that would be compatable with the exporter, ill let you know if I can find something on it.
[edit]I found two tutorials on it, here they are...
http://dxyner2000.com/tutorials/tut3.2.htm
http://www.cglearn.com/tutorials/max...fe_part_3.html
[/edit]
Also I can possibly ask the same person that helped to texture my other sword mod to see if he can help me out with this one and possibly include a reflection map, ill ask next time he is on msn.
As for an altered version of the sword and what the sword looks like compared to your concept, ill post two more links (I just tweaked the blade to make it look like it has a curve)...

I did mine without looking at the reference too much, so the blade really needs work, I could try to do one the way everyone says you should do modeling of specific objects, but I found my way to be just as good <<;;
http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/5...jsword58es.png <-- new shot, should have a reflect map.

Ok I found some concept of another katana to get the blade mostly correct, I imported it into the version of max that I did have to take some screenshots of my reflection map added and this is how it came out...

I'm going to redo the blades I have based on some pictures I got off of Wikipedia.

I have sent a version of the sword with a blade that is a bit more curved to someone for texturing with a better skin and a reflection map that will work with morrowind, im awaiting a reply.
I will post here (and on morrowind summit) once it is skinned and I place it into an esp file.

Re: simple (hopefully) request
(ready set necromancy, dead topic brought back up because it's still here)
i don't suppose anybody knows if this ever got completed, or if somebody could still make this sword? i just started into morrowind again and would still like to see it done. (looks like it got all but released from the last picture)
